About The Tidy Router
The Tidy Router is a small, independent guide site for households that want their technology to just work: reliable Wi-Fi, safe backups, simple remote help for family, and a smart home that doesn’t become a second job.
Why this site exists
Most families have one person everyone calls when the Wi-Fi drops or Grandma’s photo frame stops updating. Most home-tech advice is written either for networking professionals or to sell the newest gadget. We aim for the middle: clear, practical steps that a careful beginner can follow, with an honest note on when you don’t need to buy anything at all.
How the guides are made
- Guides are researched from manufacturer documentation, official project docs and broad owner feedback, and drafted with the help of AI writing tools. A person reviews every guide before it’s published.
- When a guide is based on hands-on use of a real home setup, it says so. When it isn’t, we don’t pretend otherwise.
- Every guide shows a “last reviewed” date. Tech changes quickly, and we revisit guides when products or software change.
- We never publish personal network details. Any screenshots are redacted: no addresses, device names or serial numbers.
How the site is funded
The site is free to read. Some product links are affiliate links, which may earn a small commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. Read the affiliate disclosure for details. We don’t accept payment for placement or positive coverage.
